A Family-Owned Approach to Senior Care Since 1999
Genesis Manor was founded by Gerry Markie, R.N., to give seniors the attentive support they need without taking away the comfort and familiarity of home.
Genesis Manor is a family owned and operated business providing residential care for seniors in Rancho Cucamonga, Claremont, and La Verne. Since opening our first home in 1999, we have cared for hundreds of seniors and given their families the peace of mind that comes from knowing their loved one is truly cared for.
Genesis Manor was founded by Gerry Markie, R.N., whose decades of nursing experience and love for the geriatric population led her to open a smaller, more home-like alternative to large assisted living facilities. That same philosophy still guides how we care for residents today.
Genesis Manor is run today by Gerry’s four children, all healthcare professionals who grew up around this work and have carried it forward with the same hands-on, family approach. Each of the five homes is led day to day by one of them as a certified administrator, so every resident’s care is overseen by someone with direct nursing or clinical experience, not a hired manager.
Gerry stepped back from day-to-day operations in 2024, but remains the owner of all five homes. That is the part most families do not think to ask about: when a care home changes hands, the license usually changes hands with it, and so does everything the license represents. Ours never has.
A Family Run Business
Gerry Markie, R.N., is still the owner of all five homes. Her children run them, each a certified administrator of the home or homes they oversee. Growing up around the business, they carry forward the same hands-on, personal approach their mother built the company on.

Alaina Hendrick, M.S.N.
Alaina has worked with Genesis Manor since 2017 and is the certified administrator of Genesis Manor I and II, our board and care homes in Rancho Cucamonga and Claremont. Her background includes hospice care as well as experience at San Antonio Regional Hospital, bringing a compassionate, end-of-life-aware approach to resident care.
Elyssa Kimble, DPT
Elyssa has worked with Genesis Manor since 2019 and is the certified administrator of Genesis Manor IV, our board and care home in La Verne. She holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and that training shapes how the home is run: how bathrooms are arranged, how transfers are handled, and how falls are prevented before they happen. She serves as the home’s administrator rather than as a treating therapist, so residents receive any physical therapy through their own providers.

David Markie, R.N.
David Markie, R.N., has been involved with Genesis Manor since 2009. He is a registered nurse with hospital experience at San Antonio Regional Hospital and also holds a business degree, a combination that informs how the family approaches both the clinical standard of care and the operational side of running the homes.

Marya Alpert, R.N.
Marya has worked with Genesis Manor since 2006 and is the certified administrator of Genesis Manor VI, one of our board and care homes in Rancho Cucamonga. Her nursing background and hospital experience at San Antonio Regional Hospital help guide the clinical standard of care across our homes.
The People Who Are There at 3 a.m.
The family holds the licenses, but the caregivers are the ones your loved one sees every day. Ours tend to stay.
Every caregiver is cleared through DOJ and FBI background checks before their first shift, and completes the training California requires for RCFE staff, including dementia care. That is the floor. What we hire for is whether someone will sit with a resident who is having a hard afternoon.
Ask us on a tour how long the caregivers in that specific house have been there. It is the single most useful question you can ask any care home, and we are glad to answer it.
Our RCFE Licenses
You can look up any of them in the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Facility Search.
Talk to One of Our Administrators
Tell us what your loved one needs and we will tell you plainly whether one of our five homes can provide it. If the answer is no, we will say so and point you toward a setting that fits. Most first calls run about ten minutes.
Or send a message and we will call you back within one business day.
